Patients with brain injuries benefit from home training
Interviews with 10 brain-injured patients showed that after using the Inimove Complex for 4 weeks, there was a positive improvement in their occupational performance. In seven cases, there was a clear improvement in their level of performance.
– The 10 patients improved their occupational performance scores, ranging from 0.3 points for the smallest improvement to 5.6 points for the largest.
– The highest exercise intensity was three times a day for 10 minutes per session, while the lowest was three times a week for 5 minutes per session.
Patients found Inimove fun to exercise with, and it contributed to improved coordination, strength, and control of their paretic hand.
– The acceptability, usability, and motivation were all high when using Inimove.
Overall, the tool was perceived to have a positive effect on coordination, strength, and control of the patients’ paralyzed hand. Patients reported that Inimove Complex was enjoyable to train with, although it was not always easy to determine whether it had a direct effect on occupational challenges.
After the 4-week testing period, 80% of patients expressed a desire to continue training with Inimove Complex.
The History
Inimove are fun and motivating training tools. Exercising with Inimove improves fine motor control, concentration and coordination, and strengthens muscles and joints in the hand, arm and shoulder.
Henrik Detterberg is the inventor of Inimove. Since 2002 Henrik has developed and tested countless Inimove prototypes. Initially, the product was developed for boxing in mind.
In 2008, Henrik’s daughter, Linea Detterberg joined the company. Since then the products have been developed for rehabilitation, because the unpredictable movement of pattern is useful in many different kinds of training.
The products are patented and CE marked as medical device Class 1.
In 2017, Excite Toys got the rights to produce and sell Inimove, now called TrueBalance, worldwide through a licensing agreement.
